From 5-8pm on Friday, May 18, we will be serving appetizers at Yew Dell Garden’s Sculpture Show. This is our second year in a row of participating at this event, and we can tell you that you are definitely in for a treat! Yew Dell Gardens is a breath-taking oasis, tucked away in Prospect, that is not to be missed! Our local artists join together to showcase some of the finest sculptures you will see anywhere. We will be serving some bite-sized taquitos filled with local vegetables to nibble on as you meander along the garden pathways.

Jamie Oliver Food Revolution Day Event at Mayan Cafe

Join us at the Mayan Cafe for Kentucky’s Jamie Oliver Food Revolution Day event!!

On Saturday, May 19, the Jamie Oliver Foundation is hosting a Global Food Revolution Day – a global food festival marking a commitment to better food education. This is a chance for people who love food to come together to share information, talents and resources; to pass on their knowledge and highlight the world’s food issues. Events will be taking place in 33 countries around the world, and the Jamie Oliver Foundation has reserved a special table at one farm-to-table restaurant in Kentucky – the Mayan Café – for the community to meet up over delicious food.
Beginning at 7:30 pm, we will serve a three-course, family-style meal made up of our locally sourced, signature dishes. At 8:00 pm, we will join Jamie Oliver’s google+ hangout broadcast- a broadcast you can learn more about here: http://www.jamieoliver.com/us/foundation/jamies-food-revolution/news-content/hangout-over-dinner-with-jamie-oliver. The cost for the evening is $35 per person, not including beverages. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Jamie Oliver Foundation.

For the 2nd year in a row, the Mayan Cafe and Chef Bruce Ucán have won the Local Hero Award for Chef/Restaurant from Edible Magazine! We feel so incredibly honored that our loyal fans have chosen us again for this wonderful distinction. We are grateful that our customers share in our vision for local, sustainable food. Beginning in December of 2008, we have sourced our meat exclusively from local farms, and we use as much produce and cheese as is seasonally available, while remaining true to our Mayan roots. It’s been a wild ride, but each year, we are more and more committed to the idea of farm-to-table. This is how Chef Bruce grew up eating, and we simply believe it’s better food!
