Our 3rd year of Mayan Market Mondays are about to draw to a close. We have so enjoyed our farm specials this summer. Some of the most popular dishes have been a roasted corn & sorrel soup from Breaking New Grounds, a Duncan Farm rabbit burrito filled with succotash & topped with fried eggs, and Groce Family Farm empanadas filled with greens, bacon & French feta cheese in a squash blossom vinaigrette. The empanadas were even added to our menu in August because they were so delicious!
For this last Monday evening of the summer, we’ve really outdone ourselves. We will be featuring Stone Cross Farm, a sustainable pork, beef & cheese farm. We will be serving pork belly in a tamarind-chile barbeque sauce, a salad of greens, peaches, bacon & chive-onion cheese in a sage vinaigrette, as well as albondigas (meatballs) in a mole sauce with basmati rice. The good folks from Stone Cross will be here all evening at their market stand, sampling cheeses and selling their meats. Come join us!
If you can’t make it this Monday to the Mayan Cafe, enjoy Stone Cross Farm’s products at the Beargrass Christian Church Farmer’s Market in St. Matthews as well as the Douglass Loup Market in the Highlands.
