Our catering department has grown exponentially in the last several years and we are looking for a person with event planning experience & interest to run the wedding portion of our department. This position will plan all weddings that we cater and will be present for some portion of the weddings, but not the whole time. Hours are flexible and will include mostly daytime work but some evenings as well. We have other managers who will work each event as the on site event executor.

ROLE & DUTIES:
- Handle wedding inquiries
- Create wedding menus and event invoices (including subcontracted services for rentals and bar)
- Calls & emails communicating with wedding clients
- Handling wedding tastings with prospective clients
- Scheduling and executing wedding walk-throughs with event managers & venue staff
- Relationships with venues and subcontractors
- Coordination within Mayan Cafe catering department regarding staffing needs and kitchen flow
SKILLS NEEDED:
- Positive attitude towards weddings & creating beautiful experiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Event planning and/or event management experience
- Basic understanding of food preparation and catering
- Strong organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Excellent customer service
COMPENSATION:
- $26-$29/hour to start, depending on previous event & wedding planning experience
- An average of 30 hours/week, with April-June and Sept/Oct as the busiest months
- $1/hour raise after first six months, with performance evaluation
- Insurance coverage: medical, dental, vision & short term disability coverage with 50% of premium paid by Mayan Café
