“Move over Hot Brown. Louisville’s true unofficial dish is the lima beans at Mayan Cafe.”

The Courier Journal’s Dana McMahan has written a fantastic piece about our famous tok sel lima beans. They have been a favorite of our customers for over 20 years now. Perhaps our favorite line is, “Yes, they’re straight up delicious. Diners call them “little pieces of crack,” Shadle said, but it’s more than the alchemy of roasted, ground pumpkin seeds, blazing high heat, lime, salt, and sesame oil. It’s the conversion experience of trying them for the first time that has seared the dish into Louisville’s collective conscious.”
