Our 8th Anniversary

JANUARY 18, 2015Blue Mayan Cafe

Today marks our 8th anniversary! We are thrilled to have called NuLu our home since January of 2007. Actually, since 1997! Chef Bruce opened his first restaurant in our current location in 1997, so he’s really seen our neighborhood grow and develop over the years. Thinking back on some of the highlights would definitely include our big renovation 4 years ago. Working with our web design team, Via Studio and our architect neighbors, DeLeon & Primmer, we redesigned our logo, space and brand. Check out the difference between our blue walls and the cool rust-colored ones we have now!

Our commitment to farm-to-table sourcing has evolved over the past 8 years, but one day to note was December 1, 2008. That day we said that every piece of meat served henceforth in the Mayan Cafe would come from a local, sustainable farm. And it has!

On March 14, 2013 we had the honor of welcoming Jose Hermosillo from Casa Noble Tequila into our dining room for an incredible dinner of sustainable fish sourced from Kelly n Kris Seafood paired with Casa Noble tequilas. We have done many special wine dinners over the years, but this night in particular was somehow just a tiny bit magical. If you haven’t had the opportunity to try these fine spirits, ask for our Casa Noble tequila flight next time you’re dining with us. You might taste just a bit of the magic we experienced that night in March 2013.

There are so many memories we have created in this space over the past years – so many fantastic employees that have come and gone and shared in our vision. But mostly we have all of you, our loyal customers, to thank for the success of the last 8 years. Cheers, to many, many more!
